Principal GNC Engineer

Principal GNC engineer using first-principles thinking, use a foundational understanding of physics combined with multi-disciplinary experience to develop and evaluate system capability to help steer a program’s path forward.  GNC Engineers are responsible for simulation and software development, implementation, testing, and analysis to support a variety of vehicle types and configurations.  provides advanced concept development, design, implementation, test, and evaluation of AS&T.
You will demonstrate success by:
  • Develop GNC Design Architecture and Technical Roadmap supporting Programs
  • Lead simulation/software development and manage task delegation to team members

  • Develop dynamic vehicle aerodynamic, propulsion, and hardware/sensor models
  • Develop guidance algorithms to provide mission capability
  • Design and tune controllers for vehicle stability and control
  • Integrate a suite of sensor feedback for Navigation and Guidance algorithms development
  • Lead root-cause failure identification and resolution studies
  • Analyze system performance, capabilities, sensitivities, and issues using a variety of methods
  • Create and Present design/results to internal and external customers
  • Support Growth of GNC Functional Organization through mentoring and creation of process/technical resources
  • Strategy and proposal support including technical scope, cost, schedule
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain secret DoD clearance .Must be able  to obtain and maintain additionally clearances
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Mathematics (Advanced degree preferred)
  •  Demonstrated Technical Expertise in a variety of GNC disciplines
  • Guidance, Target State Estimation, Navigation, Control Theory, Vehicle Modeling
  • Demonstrated Behavioral Competencies
  • Positive Attitude, Mentoring, Emotional Intelligence, Teaming, Delegation, Work Ethic
  • Demonstrated Communication Skills
  • Written, verbal, and presentation for internal and external customers

  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink, C/C , and Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, & presentation) 
  • Physical requirements include the ability to travel up to 25% and the ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

 Desired Skills:

  • Familiarity with a variety of mission sensors (radar, optical, etc) types, modes, and stabilization
  • Familiarity with a variety of vehicle sensors (GPS, Antenna, IMU, ADS, etc) types and modes
  • Familiarity with a variety of tracker types
  • Background in physics/rigid body dynamics
