Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Supply Chain Manager, the Material Planner provides support to the Operations Department by insuring that all material requirements for assigned programs are satisfied within the allocated timeframe.  The main function of the Material Planner will be Material Requirements Planning (MRP) execution for assigned programs. This function entails the scheduling, planning and oversight of material procurements (both in-house and subcontract efforts).

Job scope includes the following primary job duties:
  1. Verify contract hardware requirements (part numbers, revision levels, quantities & required due dates) have been properly loaded into material requirements planning system (DELTEK COSTPOINT).

  2. Insure proper Make/Buy coding applied to product structure based on predetermined program execution plan provided by associated Operations Program Manager

  3. Coordinate transfer of available (company owned inventory and closed project residual) materials from inventory based on MRP demands

  4. Generate Material Requisitions for balance of material requirements (either through firming of suggested orders in MRP or through creation of manual material requisitions based on proposal consolidations)

  5. Track Purchase Order placement and expedite as required with procurement personnel

  6. Track material receipts throughout the receiving, incoming inspection and stockroom stages of material receipt

  7. Interface with Production Planners and Stock Room personnel for material kitting of hardware supplied as Customer Furnished Material (CFM) to vendors and subcontractors

  8. Interface with Production Planners and Government Property Administrator for material kitting of hardware supplied as Government Furnished Material (GFM) to vendors and subcontractors

  9. Coordinate with Production Planner for timing of material requirements for release of manufacturing orders to the production floor

  10. Interface with Subcontracts Administration for external WIP tracking and anticipated delivery due dates

  11. Coordinate with Production Planner and Operations Program Manager for material re-procurement needs attributed to production yields, lost materials, and transfers to other projects that occur throughout production

  12. Participate on Materials Review Board (MRB) for disposition of discrepant materials

  13. Coordinate with Change Control Board (CCB), consisting of participants from Configuration Management, Operations, Engineering and Quality, for ERN effectivity and associated actions needed for material disposition


Job Qualifications

Education and Experience:
  1. Associates degree in business or technical discipline, or two years of material planning experience within a production environment in lieu of formal education.

Certificates & Licenses Required:

  1. Valid state driver’s license.

  2. APICS Certification desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Moderate computer skills, working knowledge of standard computer products and devices including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.), the Internet and the ability to comprehend and learn new software.

  2. Working knowledge of MRP systems.  Knowledge of DELTEK COSTPOINT software a plus.

  3. Ability to identify and analyze problems; use sound reasoning to reach conclusions; ability to find alternative solutions to complex problems; determines objectives and strategies; coordinates with administrative personnel and evaluate the progress and outcome of operational plans.

  4. Ability to speak, read, and write English well and have strong oral and written communication skills.

  5. Basic knowledge of Government FAR and DFAR regulations as pertaining to material procurement and management.

  6. Well-developed interpersonal skills; ability to perform multi-faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities.

  7. Well organized; consistently maintains a high level of productivity; ability to manage priorities; high degree of flexibility; ability to meet deadlines; multi-task oriented; pays attention to detail.
